WELCOME TO THE VICTORIAN SUPERKARTS Club

How to get started

Embark on a thrilling journey with the Victorian SuperKarts Club, where every lap brings excitement and camaraderie.

1.Observe race meeting – Key contacts are Rob and Jeff (refer to contact page)

2.Meeting and Greet – Come to a racetrack and experience the culture of the club. At the track, you will get an idea of what happens on a typical race day and provides a good opportunity to explore the paddock and talk to drivers and support crews.

  • Now that you familiarise yourself with racing and the club. Become a member, this is needed before you get your racing licence. Motorsport Australia requires you to be a member of a Motorsport Australia affiliated club which The Victorian Superkart Club has been a long-standing member.
  • Once you are a member of The Victorian Superkarts  Club, you can obtain your Motorsport Australia racing licence. You need to obtain a Motorsport Australia application form from Motorsports Australian office or on the Motorsports Australian website – Motorsport Australia Licence page (https://motorsport.org.au/)
    • Determine the type of licence you need based on the motorsport activities you plan to participate in. Options include Speed Licence, Circuit Licence, Off Road Licence, Rally Licence, and more. You will need a Circuit Licence to race
  • Within the application form there is a medical form. You will need to make an appointment with your doctor. There are some tests and examination require which your doctor will complete.
  • Submit the application form, medical and the relevant payment to Motorsport Australia.
  • In addition to the application, you will need to complete an online course. The course covers safety instruction, race format details and other information to keep you and others safe. You will be tested on the content to ensure you have a good understanding.
  • The Victorian Superkart Club also runs club days under AASA which is a separate licencing entity. Talk to your Club mentor about the best way to proceed with your licencing.
  • Once you have completed all Motorsport Australia licence requirements, you will be issued with a Provisional Licence. This allows you to race at club level and National level events. You must successfully complete 3 racing events in race meeting and receive signatures from the clerk of course to get off your provisional licences

Once you have completed all the administration activities, the fun begins.

  1. You will need a Kart, either a new one or second hand. Our recommendation is to start with a second hand one. The club can help you through the assessment and process.
  2. Safety is very important; the club will help with the safety gear to ensure that it meets the standards for Superkarts. You will need the following:
    1. Full-face helmet,
    2. Race suit,
    3. Racing boots,
    4. Gloves.
    5. Optional padded rib vest
    6. Optional Neck brace

Please ask questions to the club or your allocated mentor.
